Viva Africa Consulting LLP began with a simple vision:
to guide businesses and individuals through Africa’s complex tax and legal environment.
Viva Opens its Doors
2009
Our journey began in 2009 with our founding partners: Kairo Thuo, Alex Muriuki, the late Edward Mwachinga, and Mick Murphy. With shared office space at Kiganjo House in Nairobi’s Kilimani area, a handful of resources, and a dream, Viva Africa was born. Driven by a common vision to build a homegrown firm with global reach, our founding partners worked hard and smart in the firm’s early years, to position Viva Africa for its catapult into growth and success.
In the years that followed, more leaders walked through Viva Africa’s doors and shared a common dream with the founding partners: Anne Mubia-Murungi, Immaculate Wanderi-Ngure, and Emmanuel Laalia, strengthening our vision and reach.
Viva at 10 Years
2019
Marking ten years of growth and purpose, Viva at 10 was indeed a milestone. What began as a bold idea had evolved into a trusted name across borders, distinguished by the quality of its people and the impact of its work.
Viva at 10 meant the firm had cemented its leadership in legal, tax, and business advisory, earning a reputation for excellence and becoming the partner of choice for clients seeking clarity, strategy, and growth across Africa and beyond.
2020
Viva During COVID and Beyond
2020 was a gamechanger for everyone across the world, and Viva Africa was no exception.
During COVID and its aftermath, the firm demonstrated what it means to be driven, adapting quickly, standing united, and finding strength in collaboration.
We embraced new ways of working and stood firmly beside our clients through uncertainty, emerging stronger and more connected than before.
Viva Loses Ed
2022
The passing on of Edward Mwachinga in 2022 was a deeply felt loss for our partners, staff, and clients. Edward’s brilliance, kindness, and unwavering commitment to integrity left an indelible mark on the firm.
His legacy continues to live on through Viva’s values; the same values that guide how we work, how we grow, and how we serve. Every success that followed has carried a part of his spirit forward.
Like the ever-present wind.... unseen but felt all around, Edward’s influence remains woven into the fabric of Viva. He helped build more than a firm; he helped build a culture rooted in love, care, and purpose. He reminded us that true excellence begins with humanity, that to serve our clients well, we must first care deeply for one another.
Edward left us a legacy of connection, one that continues to shape how we think, how we lead, and how we live our values every day. His presence is forever part of our story.
Always in our hearts.
2022
Viva Appoints Additional Partners
As the firm’s work and reputation grew, so did its leadership. Anne Mubia-Murungi, Emmanuel Laalia, and Immaculate Wanderi-Ngure joined the partnership in July 2022, each bringing their own rich expertise and perspective.
Together, they expanded Viva Africa’s capabilities, blending technical excellence with strategic thinking.
What began as a small team of founders evolved into a collective of trusted advisors, shaping a strong foundation for the firm’s future.
